WHAT IS IT
Junø is a permission-less interoperable smart contract network. Essentially Junø’s goal is to enable a simple environment to deploy interoperable smart contracts across multiple chains. Junø will be a hub within the Cosmos ecosystem. Junø offloads smart contract activity from the Cosmos Hub to the Junø Hub.
Junø smart contracts can be written in both Rust & Go and they are working on adding C and C++ smart contract languages using battle-tested modules like CosmWasm.
Junø network serves as a decentralized, permission-less & censorship-resistant way for developers to efficiently and securely launch smart contracts. There are currently 50 apps and contracts on Junø https://www.junonetwork.io/ecosystem.
Cosmos IBC (inter-blockchain communication) allows for interoperable base layer 0 communication between blockchains so the natural next step is to enable cross-network smart contracts. IBC allows Junø smart contracts to interoperate with all IBC-enabled networks.
COSMWASM
Junø is the neutral home of CosmWasm smart contracts What is CosmWasm? CosmWasm enables WebAssembly (WASM) virtual machines (VMs) in the Cosmos SDK. Basically, WebAssembly allows for software written in multiple languages mainly RUST. WASM acts as an intermediate language that compiles whatever the developer's language of choice is into a portable virtual machine.
CosmWasm allows dApps (decentralized applications) to be compiled on robust and secure multichain smart contracts and interoperate with all IBC-enabled networks in the Cosmos ecosystem.
TOKENOMICS
The native network token is $JUNO. There are a number of use cases in the ecosystem.
- Securing the PoS (proof of stake) network
- Used for on-chain governance
- Acts as gas for all interoperable smart contracts in the ecosystem
- Collateral in various smart contract use-cases
- Acts as a work token to capture value from dApps built on the Junø network
Junø is completely community-owned. There was no seed sale, no private sales, and no public sale. They also had a whalecap. The majority of the initial supply was stake dropped to $ATOM holders, committed to the community pool, or committed to the development reserve for ongoing development of the Junø network.

TEAM
Junø is a completely community-driven project. It is essentially core developers from other projects in the Cosmos ecosystem.
Below are some of the core developers who are working on the project. Many of these are developers who have extensive knowledge of the Cosmos ecosystem and are already building inside of it.
