WHAT IS IT

Crabada is a P2E game on the Avalanche chain. Players use their crab NFTs to earn yield on the in-game currency by participating in various mini-games. The main functions of the game are breeding, looting, and mining which I’ll cover in more detail.

Players use teams comprised of 3 or more Crabada to earn the in-game currency $TUS.

Crabada is an “idle game” meaning that you just choose actions and then sit back and let the game to the work. It’s not an interactive experience.

GAMEPLAY MECHANICS

GAMEPLAY LORE

Welcome to the world of Crabada. Rediscover the prosperous ancient Hermit-Crab Kingdom once ruled by Crustaco, King of the Crabada. Recruit loyal followers to your cause. Harvest precious resources from mines, and breed new warriors for your army. Loot enemies or humble miners unaware, claiming your rightful share of their riches.

There are 2 main functions to the gameplay. There is mining/looting which go hand in hand as players combat against each other in a fight for resources which are the in-game currencies and native tokens $CRA and $TUS.
Then there is breeding which is an entire sub-section of how to play and earn.

Crabada is one of those games that has a TON of strategy and different gameplay behind it in order to earn and progress. For the purposes of this document, this will just be an overview of the gameplay and how the mechanics of the ecosystem work. If you're looking for a strategy deep dive I suggest joining the Discord and engaging the community, looking through Youtube, and Google for articles and breakdowns. I will also link some resources below.

First, let’s dive into mining/looting.

MINING/LOOTING

In the mining/looting aspect of the game, players go head to head against each other with the best stats prevailing. It starts with mining.

MINING MECHANICS

A player first forms a mining party of 3 Crabada and then selects a vacant mine. Once they find that they deploy their mining party. Their mining party then begins mining treasure.

Again this is all idle so all you do is deploy to the mine and then by default mining takes 4 hours and rewards 3.75 $CRA and 303.75 $TUS (although subject to change).

There is no cooldown period for mining. You can start your next mining missions immediately after finishing your current.

LOOTING MECHANICS

Now on the looting side players can deploy their looters into a mine that is currently being mined by another player. This is where PvP combat comes into play. Looters again will need a party of 3 Crabada to start.

Looting missions take between 1-2.5 hours to complete depending on whether the mining party sends reinforcements in defense of their mine.

Looting missions also have a 1 hour cool-down period on your Crabada from the time the last mission began.

Looting is a higher risk mission for your Crabada compared to just mining and therefore has hirer rewards. Because of this regardless of if you are successful or not, you will receive a little bounty as a reward. However successful looting missions will result in stealing 65% of the mining parties’ rewards.

COMBAT MECHANICS

When a mining party has been raided the defending player will have the option to choose a Crabada as reinforcement in order to stop the attack. They will have 30 mins to choose once an attack starts.

If they choose to send reinforcements then the attacking player also has the choice. This repeats twice until there are a total of 5 Crabada on each side.

The winner is determined by the highest combat attribute points of the party (5 Crabada)

There are also Axie-like battles coming to the game as well which will be a nice change-up from the idle style of gameplay.

TAVERN

This is where you can “hire” Crabada to come and help you in combat for both Mining and Looting missions.

The Tavern also gives players the opportunity to lend out their crabs when they aren’t using them. They get to set the price for their Crabada. This sets a fair market value for the different types of Crabada based on stats and effectiveness.

FACTIONS AND CLASSES

Every Crabada will have a primary attribute of the faction which is determined by its class. Each Crabada will inherit specific faction benefits and weaknesses based on whichever faction it belongs to.

Each different faction and each different class come with different attributes, skills, and body parts. There are 6 different body parts and each is associated with a specific breed type. There are 8 breed types in each class. So you can see that the different combinations of crabs and their abilities go quite deep, and can get very intricate.

BREEDING

The second main function of Crabada is to breed your crabs. Two crabs can make up to two crab eggs. It then takes 5 days for each egg to hatch. Each crab can breed up to 5 times. After that, it is no longer able to.

Each successive breeding becomes more expensive (Similar to how summoning in DFK works if you're familiar with that). Here is a breakdown of the breeding costs

Breeding new Crabada with their parents is not allowed so there are a number of strategies that players use to continue breeding their crabs.

Every new crab that is bred will be determined by the DNA of its parents’ 6 different parts (Shell, Horn, Body, Mouth, Eyes, and Pincer). Again there are many many different strategies around how to breed your crabs for the highest ROI that can be found once you have a base understanding of the mechanics.

MARKETPLACE

There is a marketplace where you can buy and sell your Crabadas as well as your eggs that have yet to hatch. The marketplace is run by players of the game which allows the in-game economy to adjust to fair market values as players determine what Crabada are worth based on class, faction, rarity, stats, etc. Players but the Crabada or eggs using $TUS the in-game currency.

TOKENOMICS

There are 2 main tokens used in the game $CRA and $TUS. Other than that each Crabada will be an NFT asset.

$CRA (Crabada)
The $CRA token is a governance token that is rewarded via staking, and playing the game during the incentive period. Outside of that you can stake $CRA for $CRAM (Crabada Amulet). This can be used for in-game perks and exclusive rewards.

$CRA can be bought on TraderJoe on the Avalanche chain - https://traderjoexyz.com/trade
$TUS (Treasure Under The Sea)
$TUS is the actual in-game currency. It is earned from playing the game (mining, looting as well as lending crabs in the Tavern)

TOKENOMICS BREAKDOWN

Some of the main factors here are 1 and 2-year release schedules for private, advisors, and the team allocation. This helps ensure that there are no dumps shortly after the token/protocol is released. As well as shows that the team and investors are building for the long-term success of the game. (There is never a way to know for sure but longer vesting periods are generally a good sign.)

  • Private round 6% of tokens and has a 1 year (3 months cliff, followed by quarterly release)
  • Advisors have a 2 year (6 months cliff, followed by a quarterly release)
  • The team has a 2 year (6 months cliff, followed by a quarterly release)

TEAM

The team has links to their Twitter (which is also a plus as long as they aren’t all anon on Twitter) as well as what seems like a solid amount of experience in blockchain and gaming. You can see more information here - https://docs.crabada.com/whitepaper/team

ROADMAP

Looking at the roadmap there is a ton planned for this project. The battle game release set to come out in Q1 should be huge for Crabada. We have seen the hype for games like Axie with the same battle type. A few more notable things down the line are land, PVE tower maps, cross-platform, PVP matchmaking, game item marketplaces, and tournaments.

If the team can execute continuously on this roadmap and continue to deliver there is a ton of room for growth on Crabada as it is the current bluechip GameFi project on Avalanche.
